Long-term renting on Koh Samui follows the tourist calendar. Many owners let their villas by the week to visitors from December to April and again in July and August, so a twelve-month lease is easier to agree outside those months, and often on a home a little back from the beach. The widest choice runs along the north coast from Bang Rak through Bophut to Maenam, where supermarkets, clinics and schools sit on the ring road. Chaweng has the most apartments. Lamai and the southwest are cheaper and slower. It helps to settle early what the rent covers, from pool and garden care to utilities.
