Condominiums are the exception on Koh Samui. Height limits keep buildings to a few floors, and only a small number are registered as condominiums, most of them between Maenam and Choeng Mon on the north coast, with a few in Chaweng and Lamai. They are low blocks around a common pool, with one- and two-bedroom units and, on higher ground, a view of the bay. A foreigner can own a unit freehold while the building's foreign quota has room. Many flats advertised here are in fact leasehold apartments, so the first thing to confirm is how the building is registered.
